You rode the East Coast for the
first time this past season, what did you think about the scene &
terrain out here?
The scenery was cool for sure. The mountains are kind of small but I
was digging the look of the rolling hills covered in snow and the cities
were super cool too. As for the terrain I mostly hit up park runs and
major jibonkage. that was the best part of it though, just messing around
during the open on the sides of the pipe and trees, man I had so much
fun! I did have one time where the ice was hating on me though.. it
was at some resort where i had no edges and no gloves at 8 pm in freezing
cold temperatures. Besides that the terrain treated me well plus I've
never ridden a better park in my life. Those US Open guys sure know
how to build a jump.
You have some other good sponsors
(Nitro, North Face, Milo) and some good support, are you starting to
realize that your dream is coming true? If someone told you 5 years
ago that you would be where you are today would you believe them? Where
do you want to be 5 years from now?
Actually I haven't thought about it like that. I have big dreams and
I have a ton of stuff I need to accomplish before they come true. I
am on the right path though and I have the support to make it happen
and that's the biggest thing I'm stoked on right now. I've realized
that only a handful of people get the chance to be where I'm at and
a lot of them are forgotten in a year or two because they think it just
comes with the talent. I want to be one of those guys everyone still
notices when I'm old and still shredding. I wanna do this forever. 5
years ago I was 13 and just a young'n going up to people that were good
and asking, "are you sponsored man?!" so if someone told me
that (sponsorship would happen to me) I wouldn't of thought anything
of it.
5 years from now I want to be traveling all over the place meeting new
people and snowboarding every day that I can. I just want to snowboard
man period.
What do you think the next trick
trend in snowboarding will be this season?
Double backys are gonna be stomped by more heads than Chris Coulter.
Everyone and their moms are gonna be doing nose slide tail tap 180s.
1260s are become a stock pipe trick, and Austens gonna start a new tree
slap revolution when he does a tail tap 900 out on that perfect tree
he's always searching for.

What do you like to do besides snowboard?
I like to skateboard, go boating, fishing, watch
movies, go rail searching, mobbin' around town with my good buddies.
I like to take photographs and play on the computer. I like to draw
but I suck at it, and I like art but I'm not very artistic, and I love
going to good shows. SLC has a pretty good music scene, at least for
the music I'm into.
I really don‚t know.
What are some of the bands that you've been listening
to lately?
My favorite band right now is Lucero. i listen to
them daily. Also Elliot Smith, Of Montreal, The Cure, From Autumn to
Ashes, As I Lay Dying, Peachcake, Explosions in the Sky, At the Drive
In, Led Zeppelin, Motley Crue, Reggie and the Full Effect. I could on
and on naming bands I like. I'm really into my music.
Sweet. Well that's about all the room we have for
this interview, is there anyone out there you would like to say hello
to?
Is this like a shoutout give thank yous sorta deal?
Alright well.. Hello to my folks, Jeff Perry, Tonino, Cal, Benny, Josh
and everyone at Milo. Jacob, Nate,
Genzler, Rollerblading Randy, Jim Mangan, all my friends, Terje, Ben
